How do I join the library?

Library membership is free and offered to anyone who lives or works in Nottingham, or visits regularly.

You can register in person at one of our libraries by showing proof of address, or register online here.

You will find locations, opening hours and contact details for all our libraries on our Find a Library page. 

You can apply for a library card if you:

• Live in Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Derby City and the surrounding counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.
• Work or study in Nottingham but don’t live here.

Remember, you don’t need to apply for a new card if:

• You have a card, but forgot your PIN/Password - you can reset this online by clicking on "Sign In" in the top right corner. Then, click on "Forgot your PIN code?" An email will be sent to the address linked to your account. Check your email and follow the steps to create a new PIN code. If you prefer, you can also go to your local library. Show your library card to a staff member and they can help you.
• You have lost your card. Pop in to any library or email your local library with your name, address and date of birth and we’ll check our records.
