Reserving Books Online – Error Message
We’re aware of an issue some customers experience when reserving books online. Here’s what you need to know and how to fix it.
Why do I see the message: “You cannot reserve this item, since you do not have a valid library card at this library”?
If you see this error, sign in, then search again for the book.
What does this mean?
This is a known bug in our online catalogue. It happens when you search for books before signing in and then log in using the button at the top right of the page.
Why does it occur?
The system doesn’t refresh immediately after you sign in, so it still thinks you’re not logged in. Instead of saying “Please sign in,” it incorrectly shows “You do not have a valid card.”
Is this permanent? No. Our provider (Axiell) are working on a fix.
Quick Fix (Workaround)
After signing in, leave the search results page and search for the item again. This refreshes the system and allows you to reserve the book.
